Romania's public debt has ballooned to over 1.194 trillion lei, accounting for 61.4% of the country's GDP. The state is under pressure to repay €84 billion in public debt principal between 2027 and 2030, not including the associated interest, amid escalating financing costs. This situation comes as the country's debt growth outpaces its income generation.
In a related development, the Competition Council has confirmed that major fuel operators have adhered to the cap on commercial margins, reflecting the excise reduction in diesel prices. "Principalii operatori de pe piața carburanților au respectat plafonarea adaosului comercial," the Council noted.
