A new thematic trail connecting Rodnei Mountains National Park and Maramureș Mountains Natural Park has been established, thanks to the efforts of the ECO RODNA Association. The trail, aimed at encouraging a deeper connection between these two significant natural areas, was inaugurated during a Junior Ranger camp held from August 18 to 20.
The camp, located at Izbucul Albastru al Izei, Dealul Moiseiului, hosted 30 volunteers from schools and universities across Năsăud, Sângeorz-Băi, Moisei, Săcel, Baia Mare, and Sibiu. These volunteers participated in a range of activities designed to promote environmental awareness and conservation.
Claudiu Iușan, a biologist with ECO RODNA, coordinated the initiative. He explained that the camp focused on developing a responsible young generation dedicated to nature protection. "The activities included tourist marking, environmental games, and botanical workshops," Iușan said.
The new trail is marked with a symbol depicting a hiker with a backpack, symbolizing the journey and adventure that await visitors. Such initiatives are important in nurturing an appreciation for nature and encouraging sustainable practices among the youth.
