Rabla Auto 2026 Launch Offers Up to 18,500 Lei in Eco-Vouchers
Romanians can apply for eco-vouchers from July 20 to December 31, 2026, under the Rabla Auto 2026 program. The Environmental Fund Administration has allocated a budget of 300 million lei, larger than last year's. The program aims to reduce pollution and renew the car fleet. Diesel vehicles are excluded, encouraging the purchase of less polluting cars.

The Rabla Auto 2026 program will begin on July 20, 2026, allowing Romanians to apply for eco-vouchers worth up to 18,500 lei. This initiative, announced by the Environmental Fund Administration (AFM), allocates a total budget of 300 million lei for individuals, marking an increase from the previous year.
Florin Bănică, president of the AFM, emphasized the program's goal: "We want to support Romanians changing old, polluting cars." This year's program runs until December 31, 2026, or until the funds are exhausted, offering financial incentives to encourage the purchase of less polluting vehicles.
The eco-voucher value varies depending on the type of vehicle acquired. A significant portion of the budget, 165 million lei, is dedicated to thermal, GPL/GNC, and hybrid vehicles. Meanwhile, 120 million lei is set aside for plug-in hybrid, electric, and hydrogen vehicles, with an additional 15 million lei reserved for motorcycles and electric motorcycles.
The Ministry of Environment has confirmed that the program's conditions remain consistent with the last session of 2025, although new criteria regarding vehicle origin have been deferred to next year. Notably, diesel vehicles are not eligible for funding, further promoting the purchase of environmentally friendly options.
The Rabla Auto initiative seeks to reduce pollution levels and renew Romania's aging car fleet, aligning with broader environmental goals. As the program prepares to launch, the focus remains on driving a shift towards cleaner and more sustainable vehicle options.
