Romanian government grants 736,000 lei to Reșița's Teatrul de Vest

The Romanian Government has approved a financial package for Reșița's Teatrul de Vest, allocating over 736,000 lei. This decision, announced during a government session on Thursday, is part of a wider initiative to support public performance institutions nationwide. The Ministry of Development, under Minister Cseke Attila, put forward this funding plan.

In total, 142.7 million lei has been designated for 75 public cultural institutions, including theatres, operas, and philharmonics, which do not receive direct state funding. "We support theatres, operas, and philharmonics," Minister Cseke Attila said, highlighting the government's commitment to cultural development.

The financial support extends beyond Reșița. Deva's Art Theatre will receive around 701,000 lei, and Petroșani's "I.D. Sîrbu" Theatre is granted over 1 million lei. Timișoara's cultural scene benefits notably, with the "Merlin" Theatre receiving over 1.1 million lei and the "Csiky Gergely" Theatre more than 2 million lei. The German State Theatre and the "Banatul" Philharmonic in Timișoara are major recipients, with allocations exceeding 2.1 million lei and 4.8 million lei, respectively.

Arad's cultural institutions are also supported, with the "Ioan Slavici" Theatre and the State Philharmonic receiving nearly 2 million lei and over 2.1 million lei, respectively. These funds come from 2% of the income tax collected between June 1 and August 31. Local administrative units had until September 10 to submit their funding requests.

This initiative spans institutions in 50 localities across 34 counties, highlighting the government's effort to improve cultural offerings nationwide. By injecting these funds, the Romanian Government ensures active cultural activities continue to thrive in communities across the country.
