Paratroopers Injured in Târgu Mureș Exercise Amid Sudden Weather Shift

Two military personnel were injured on Thursday afternoon during a parachuting exercise in Târgu Mureș, near Libertății Street. The incident occurred when a sudden change in wind speed and direction disrupted the exercise. The paratroopers missed the designated landing area. One paratrooper landed on solar panels, while the other came into contact with electric wires.

Both men were conscious and in stable condition when transported to the Târgu Mureș Emergency Unit, where they remain hospitalized. According to the Special Operations Forces Command, their condition is hemodynamically and respiratorily stable. They are undergoing further investigations.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the competent authorities will be notified. An internal commission has been established to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident, including the impact of the wind on the paratroopers' landing trajectory and any other contributing factors. A thorough review is underway.

The exercise involved 11 participants. The sudden weather change specifically affected the safe landing of the two injured personnel, who ended up in an urban area instead of the designated zone, creating hazardous conditions that resulted in contact with infrastructure not designed for such landings. The Special Operations Forces have expressed their wishes for the quick recovery of their injured colleagues.
