Transylvanian mountains hit by freezing temperatures
Freezing temperatures were recorded in the Transylvanian mountains on Tuesday morning. Omu Peak reached minus 5.2 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest temperature. Lakóca Peak in Székelyföld registered minus 0.6 degrees Celsius. Basin areas saw milder temperatures, with Csíkszereda and other towns recording around 5°C. The National Meteorological Service forecasts a gradual temperature decrease until Thursday.

Freezing temperatures gripped the Transylvanian mountains on Tuesday morning, with Omu Peak reaching a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius, as reported by the National Meteorological Service. This was among the coldest readings in the region.
Lakóca Peak in Székelyföld also faced chilly conditions, with temperatures falling to minus 0.6 degrees Celsius. Bucsin Peak, however, recorded a milder 2.4 degrees Celsius.
In contrast, the basin areas experienced milder dawn temperatures. Csíkszereda, Gyergyóalfalu, and Székelyudvarhely recorded minimums around 5 degrees Celsius. Sepsiszentgyörgy saw 7 degrees Celsius, while Marosvásárhely noted a low of 4.7 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Meteorological Service, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease further until Thursday, with minimums nearing the freezing point across Transylvania by Thursday morning. Daytime temperatures, however, are anticipated to climb to between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius.
