Maramureș students to protest mandatory uniforms

A legislative proposal requiring school uniforms has passed the Senate and awaits a final vote in the Chamber of Deputies. This measure faces opposition from student representatives, who argue it fails to address fundamental issues in the education system.

Students in Maramureș are dissatisfied with the lack of genuine consultation on this proposal. The Maramureș County Students' Council has announced a symbolic protest for Monday, September 28th. Students are encouraged to wear black clothing to school to send a message to the Chamber of Deputies ahead of their vote.

The protest aims to be non-disruptive, allowing students to attend classes as usual. Participants are urged to use existing black clothing, highlighting the voluntary nature of the demonstration. "Clothes are prepared for us, without being asked," said student representatives, expressing their frustration.

The Maramureș Students' Council further stated, "Education is not fixed at the tailor's!" This protest highlights the students' demand for meaningful engagement and solutions to educational challenges beyond uniform policies.
