Cluj county authorities have unveiled a thorough set of road safety measures for Vâlcele, situated in the Feleacu commune, aimed at decreasing accident risks and alleviating traffic congestion. The Vâlcele road section is notably hazardous, prompting this initiative.
An urgent meeting was convened by Prefect Maria Forna to devise effective solutions. Joining her were Feleacu Mayor Gabriel Costea, Aiton Mayor Nicolae Făgădar, DRDP Cluj Director Eugen Cecan, and Sub-commissioner Ionuț Petruța from IPJ Cluj. During the meeting, it was decided to reduce the speed limit from 70 km/h to 50 km/h.
In addition to the speed limit reduction, the installation of speed bumps and reflective posts, spaced 60 meters apart on both traffic lanes, has been planned. A new pedestrian crossing, equipped with reflective panels for improved visibility, will be established near the Lukoil station.
A provisional roundabout is also set to be introduced, contingent upon the resolution of the land's legal status. The estimated deadline for the completion of these safety measures is September 20, 2026. Prefect Forna emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating, "Siguranța cetățenilor este și va rămâne o prioritate."
The implementation of these solutions will be closely monitored to ensure their effectiveness in improving road safety in the area.
