Romania braces for temperature drop and heavy rains

Meteorologists have issued a weather warning for Romania, predicting a significant drop in temperatures across the country starting Tuesday, September 22. This warning, effective until Thursday at 10:00 AM, indicates strong winds, notable cooling, and moderate rainfall. Maximum temperatures are expected to range from 12 to 23 degrees Celsius, while minimums will vary between 2 and 13 degrees Celsius.

The northwest and central regions, including Cluj, will face particularly cold conditions. In Cluj, temperatures are set to peak at 15 degrees Celsius, with lows around 7 degrees. The city will experience variable skies and occasional cloud cover, with chances of brief showers. Winds will be notably stronger in the high mountain areas near Cluj.

Nationwide, cloudy skies and rain are forecasted, with precipitation likely in mountain zones and regions such as Maramureș, Transylvania, and Muntenia. Rainfall may come with electrical discharges, and water accumulation is expected to reach 10-15 liters per square meter, with some areas potentially seeing 20-30 liters per square meter.

Isolated fog may appear in the morning and night, and sleet and snow could occur in mountainous areas above 1700 meters. General maximum temperatures will fall between 14 and 21 degrees Celsius, with night minimums for September 22/23 and 23/24 ranging from 2 to 11 degrees Celsius. The coldest temperatures are anticipated in depressions, where frost conditions might develop.
