Both residents and businesses affected by the expropriations initiated the lawsuits. These expropriations were mainly to support city investments. However, the initial compensation offered was deemed insufficient by the affected parties, sparking numerous legal disputes.
The courts have repeatedly sided with the property owners, recognizing the valuation discrepancies of the expropriated properties. As a result, Oradea faces increased financial burdens, having to cover the compensation shortfall from its budget.
