Marius Porumb enriches Baia Mare Library with vast art collection

The 'Petre Dulfu' County Library in Baia Mare has received a remarkable donation from academician Marius Porumb, a renowned art historian and critic. Porumb, a member of the Romanian Academy since 2009, is celebrated for his in-depth studies on medieval, Byzantine, and religious art, as well as the artistic legacy of Transylvania and Maramureș.

Porumb's educational path began at 'Gheorghe Șincai' National College in Baia Mare and continued at 'Babeș-Bolyai' University in Cluj-Napoca. His donated collection, now part of the library, spans diverse art periods, from Byzantine works to modern movements such as Impressionism, Surrealism, and Pop-Art. Significantly, it includes volumes focused on the art of Maramureș and Baia Mare, offering a thorough perspective on regional artistic evolution.

This donation promises to be a valuable resource for students, researchers, and art aficionados, granting them access to Porumb's intellectual world. The collection encompasses historical and artistic analysis, art criticism, and aesthetics, providing a wide range of insights.

The library intends to make these materials available online soon, broadening their accessibility. The collection's presentation was curated by I.S., a volunteer with academic credentials from the University of the Arts London, ensuring the materials are effectively showed.
