Under the shadow of the stately buildings of Iași, with their historic facades whispering tales of the past, students from Colegiul Național „Mihai Viteazul” in Turda gathered for the National Stage of the Olimpiada de Creativitate Științifică. This annual event, held from May 26 to May 29, 2026, brought together bright young minds from across Romania to showcase their scientific ingenuity. Amidst the lively atmosphere of competition, the Junior category, Section A – Fundamental Sciences, saw a team from Turda making their mark.

The team, consisting of Pop Daria Maria, an 8th-grade student, and Popa Dragoș Andrei, a 5th-grade student, demonstrated their prowess by securing the 9th position out of 24 participating teams. This achievement was not just proof of their hard work but also to the supportive educational environment fostered at their school. In a conversation outside the competition hall, Daria shared her excitement, "It was thrilling to be part of something so big.

We learned so much from other teams and the experience was invaluable." Dragoș, equally enthusiastic, added, "I can't wait to participate again. The projects we saw were amazing, and it gave us new ideas for the future."

The Senior category, Section B – Applied Sciences, also featured a team from the same college. Comprising Vîtcă Adrian and Luca Teodora, both in the 11th grade, they faced stiff competition. Despite the challenges, they persevered and achieved a respectable 17th place out of 45 teams.

This category was particularly competitive, with projects ranging from innovative engineering solutions to complex scientific explorations. Teodora, reflecting on the experience, said, "Competing at this level was intense. We put in a lot of effort, and even though we didn't win, the experience was rewarding."

Adrian echoed her sentiments, noting, "The level of creativity and innovation was inspiring. We learned a lot from interacting with other teams." Back in Turda, the college management was quick to acknowledge the efforts of these young scholars.

Teachers Pop Annamaria, Florea Andreea, Mînican Ligia, and Georgescu Dumitru received commendations for their dedication to nurturing talent and guiding these students through the rigorous preparation for the olympiad. Principal Ionescu, speaking on behalf of the college, expressed immense pride, "Our students have consistently shown that with dedication and the right guidance, they can compete with the best in the country. We are proud of their achievements and grateful to our teachers for their unwavering support."

The Olimpiada Națională de Creativitate Științifică is a significant event in Romania's educational calendar. It not only highlights academic excellence but also encourage a spirit of innovation and curiosity among students. These competitions, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, are important in identifying and nurturing young talent, preparing them for future academic and professional challenges.

Iași, with its rich history as a former capital of Moldavia and a current cultural hub, provided a fitting backdrop for this gathering of bright young minds. The city, home to some of Romania's oldest universities, has long been a nurturing ground for academic excellence and innovation. This tradition continues as it hosts events that bring together the country's brightest students.

As the students from Turda return home, they carry with them not just certificates and rankings, but also a wealth of experience and inspiration. The competition served as a platform for them to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and challenge themselves in new ways. Local resident and parent, Maria Popescu, shared her thoughts, "It's inspiring to see our children participating in such events.

It gives them exposure and helps build their confidence. We are proud of what they have achieved." Another parent, Ion Radu, emphasized the importance of such experiences, "These competitions are more than just about winning.

They teach our kids valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and creativity." For Colegiul Național „Mihai Viteazul”, this event is a continuation of its long-standing tradition of excellence. As a prestigious institution in Turda, it has a history of producing outstanding students who excel in various fields.

The achievements at the National Creativity Olympiad are yet another feather in its cap. As the echoes of this year's olympiad fade, students and teachers alike are already looking forward to the next edition. With new ideas and renewed determination, they aim to push the boundaries of creativity and scientific exploration even further.

This spirit of continuous learning and improvement is what makes these events so valuable, not just for the participants, but for the entire educational community.
