Censure Motion Boosts Bolojan's Political Standing
Ilie Bolojan's popularity increased significantly after the censure motion. Bolojan's position within his party, PNL, strengthened.
Some USR voters temporarily shifted to PNL. PSD saw a slight decrease in voting intention.
AUR maintained stable support at 38-40%.

Ilie Bolojan, the leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), has seen a notable increase in his popularity following a recent censure motion, according to Remus Ștefureac, Director of INSCOP. The motion, rather than weakening Bolojan, has placed him in a more favorable political position both within his party and among the electorate.
Ștefureac stated that Bolojan's popularity boost is evident from recent survey data, which shows a significant rise in his personal approval ratings, surpassing even the growth of PNL itself. "This censure motion, at least in the short term, has acted as a political oxygen balloon for Premier Bolojan," Ștefureac said on Digi24. He added that Bolojan has become the main political beneficiary of the situation, gaining from increased public exposure and a victimization effect due to being the primary target of attacks.
This dynamic has led to a temporary shift among right-wing voters, with some supporters of the Save Romania Union (USR) moving their allegiance to PNL, as noted by Ștefureac. "A part of the USR voters probably moved, at least in this short period, to the National Liberal Party," he explained.
Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) experienced a slight decrease in voting intention, dropping by approximately three to four percentage points, according to Ștefureac. In contrast, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) has remained relatively constant in the polls, maintaining a voting intention of 38-40% throughout the year.
Ștefureac noted that AUR's electorate remains loyal, with little sign of fluctuation. "This electorate has nowhere else to go, as they do not see any alternatives at the moment," he said. He also suggested that AUR's growth to 50% is not impossible, depending on political developments and the presence of a viable opposition alternative.
The situation highlights the potential risks of a single party gaining excessive power in Romania, given the current level of democratic culture among political elites. " in Romania, any party obtaining over 50% would pose a risk," Ștefureac warned, emphasizing the need for a balanced political landscape.
