Cluj Neurosurgery Center Opens with €46M Investment

The Cluj Neurosurgery Center was inaugurated at the Cluj County Emergency Clinical Hospital, marking a significant development in Romanian healthcare. The center was established with an investment of 230 million lei, sourced from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

The inauguration was attended by several prominent figures, including Cluj Prefect Maria Forna, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Senate President Mircea Abrudean, Health Minister Cseke Atilla, Cluj-Napoca Mayor Emil Boc, and Cluj County Council President Alin Tișe. Prefect Forna highlighted the importance of the event, stating, "Today is a reference day for Cluj county and Romanian medicine." The center aims to provide advanced neurosurgery and cerebro-vascular pathology treatments, serving patients from Cluj, the North-West region, and across Romania. It aspires to become a benchmark for neurosurgery at both national and European levels. Cluj has distinguished itself by attracting 603 million euros through the PNRR, the highest amount secured by any Romanian county.

This funding highlights the region's commitment to improving medical infrastructure and services.

Professor Ștefan Florian was acknowledged for his contributions to the development of Romanian neurosurgery, while Professor Claudia Gherman, the hospital manager, received praise for her role in the project's completion. The new facility emphasizes the critical nature of timely medical intervention in cerebro-vascular cases. As Forna noted, "Every minute can make the difference between life and disability." This highlights the center's mission to offer rapid and effective medical care.
