Cristian Pistol, the General Director of the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR), confirmed that the project is in its final phase, with the constructor UMB Spedition focusing on the last operations before the section is opened to traffic. This 30.6-kilometer stretch is part of the ambitious Transylvania Highway (A3), a project initiated in the early 2000s with the goal of connecting the western and central regions of Romania.
The highway's planned route spans from Brașov through Târgu Mureș and Cluj to Oradea, aiming to enhance road connectivity and facilitate economic integration within Transylvania. The contract for this segment is valued at approximately 1.625 billion RON, excluding VAT, with funding provided through the Transport Program 2021–2027.
