The National Meteorological Institute (INM) has issued a Yellow Code weather warning for Sălaj County, effective from Thursday, June 11. The warning is in response to expected atmospheric instability and temporary intensifications of wind.
According to the INM, wind speeds are projected to reach between 50 and 70 km/h from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Isolated lightning and showers are anticipated. Residents should exercise caution.
More significant atmospheric instability is forecasted to occur between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM, a period when the region could experience torrential downpours, lightning, and strong wind gusts, with the possibility of gales developing across affected areas. Small to medium-sized hail may occur. Weather conditions will be complicated.
Rainfall is expected to be substantial, with water quantities ranging from 25 to 40 liters per square meter locally, and isolated areas potentially exceeding 50 to 60 liters per square meter.
Authorities advise residents to heed warnings from officials and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property during this period of severe weather. People are encouraged to avoid seeking shelter near trees and billboards during storms. Additionally, securing loose objects on balconies, terraces, and in yards is recommended to prevent damage. Citizens are also urged to exercise caution while driving and engaging in outdoor activities, given the adverse weather conditions.
Emergency services in the area are closely monitoring the situation. They are prepared to intervene should the need arise.
